WE ARE NOT ACCEPTING ADDITIONAL VOICE ACTORS. WE DON'T REQUIRE YOU TO HAVE A RECORDING DEVICE TO APPLY. READ BELOW FOR MORE INFORMATION.
"Prepare to witness Duel Monsters as you have never before!"
Yu-Gi-Oh! The Fandubbed Series
NOTE:
Just to state this as clearly as possible: THIS IS NOT A PARODY SERIES. This is a serious production meant to provide an ACCURATE english dub of Yu-Gi-Oh Duel Monsters.
Hello, I am TitanAura and I am here as a representative on behalf of Otaku Dragon Studios. Getting right down to business, I am here to recruit members to our team. Before anyone asks, we are NOT accepting additional voice actors, we already have plenty of actors and a couple hundred auditions to go through and evaluate.
I'm here to find video editors, ADR specialists, audio editors/mixers, sound effects engineers, additional script writers (lip syncing adaptation), and Japanese-English translators. If you believe that you can fulfill any number of these roles then state what positions you wish to pursue, however you MUST apply to two or more positions to be eligible. For example, if you want to be a video editor, it is an ideal time-saver if you took a position in audio editing/mixing as well. Please leave your application in the comments of this thread. DO NOT PM ME.
In addition to applying for a position, you will also be required to submit a sample of your work. Simply leave a link to it in a comment along with a brief explanation and what you're applying for. IF YOU SUBMIT ANOTHER AUTHOR'S WORK AS YOUR OWN WE WILL KNOW WHEN THE TIME COMES TO START PRODUCTION. YOU CANNOT FAKE YOUR WAY INTO THIS TEAM. We have already disbanded a number of crew members from the team due their inability to complete the jobs given to them.
Here's an example:
"I'm applying for the positions of Video Editor, ADR specialist, and Audio editor/mixer. My sample is a music video I created using Adobe Premier Elements 6 and Audacity.
You'll Never Stop the Abridged
I hope you enjoy it!"
The sample doesn't necessarily have to be a youtube video. It can also be a downloadable file from a file sharing site like mediafire if you applying for video editing, audio editing/mixing, script writing, etc. Translator applications must be dealt with seperately. If you wish to apply as a translator then leave a comment saying so and I will PM you when I am available.
Oh and did I forget to mention? LittleKuriboh is a team member.
*phew*
Wow that took a while. Hi guys, it's been awhile! I know I haven't been around as much as I used to but as you can see I've been busy. I'm really excited to be a part of this project and it's been awesome to get to know the other staff members.
Good luck to all applicants. There is no limit on the number of applicants that we will accept because we are so short-staffed. So don't worry about not making the cut due to a limited number of spaces. If you are competent in what you do then you have nothing to fear! |

| #5 Posted 4 months ago, in reply to post #4 by darkarcher | Reply | Thanks. It is very much appreciated. I'm also going to be buying the ad-space at the bottom:
1. To get some more f**king revenue for this site.
2. I never got around to actually donating that $15 I had promised Kroze. May as well kill two birds with one stone. Er... which is actually more like 4. When you think about it, actually killing 4 birds with a single stone has an approximate probability of a hundred-billion to one.
3. I need something to do.
4. Create more attention for this project.
5. ???????
6. PROFIT!!!! |

| #9 Posted 4 months ago, in reply to post #7 by LittleKuriboh | Reply | | That fact alone would convince several people to audition. |

|
| #10 Posted 4 months ago, in reply to post #9 by Bluespirit0000 | Reply | Well... he kinda wanted to keep a low profile while working on this project so... sorry LK. >_<
He's a huge part of the "commercial" appeal and despite that most people still gave little effort to join and that's left us with an extremely small staff for such a large scale project! |
|
|
| #11 Posted 4 months ago, in reply to post #10 by TitanAura | Reply | | I don't think it matters anymore. sakasajinei has already made it very clear that LK is in this. |

| #12 Posted 4 months ago, in reply to post #10 by TitanAura | Reply | I have an excellent female VA cousin! She has a good voice and has proffesional equipment!
Although she is busy with other fandubs and probably dosen't want me to sign her up for things w/o permission.
Anyways, What roles/positions do you need? |

|
| #13 Posted 4 months ago, in reply to post #12 by Bluespirit0000 | Reply | | I've already stated that we aren't accepting any more auditions for the time being. If she wants to try out for Mai later on that's fine, but for now we have more than enough actors at our disposal. |

| #14 Posted 4 months ago, in reply to post #13 by TitanAura | Reply | OK... as said previously...Goodluck with your fandub |

| #17 Posted 4 months ago, in reply to post #15 by EdBat | Reply | Unfortunately no, only one actor has been set in stone. LittleKuriboh will play the role of Grandpa Mutou.
We are still currently in heated debate as to who the others should be. (though I'm working my ass off trying to get the role of Pegasus) |

If she wants to try out for Mai later on that's fine
I was gonna try out for Mai, but my first attempt sucked so I didn't post it. But if you're still looking for someone to voice her feel free to drop me a message and I can try again and see what you think. :)
Also I can be a script writer. Unfortunately the first script I've ever written for something that's actually in progress is the BAR Animated Series episode 2, and who knows when that'll be out, so no example for me there. A second position that'd probably make most sense with script-writing would be a translator, but I don't know Japanese, but what I COULD do is take a look at subbed versions of the show and base a rough script off that, then tweak it to so that it lip-syncs well with the English version. Obviously if that's not the kind of thing you're looking for then that's fine too.
Oh lol I just read the downloadable file thing and I could post a file for my BAR Animated Series script, based off some actual conversation in the BAR.
Potential section of episode 2:
Sally's Weird Script
Based off the events here:
Some BAR thing
It also goes on for a little bit, if you want to know how I transcribed the rest of the conversation to script as well, then I think if you go a few pages further you'll see it.
And like I said I don't know Japanese, but I'll see what I can do with transcribing subs if that's acceptable.

| #22 Posted 3 months ago, in reply to post #21 by MrsSallyBakura | Reply | My apologies, but that's not what we're looking for in a translator. We want someone fluent in both Japanese and English.
The major concern now is with the translator position scratched off your application, only the writer application is left. I require that 2 or more positions must be applied for and met in order to be considered. If you wish to submit an application for a second position then I will gladly consider you.
A little advice however. For script writing, I'd suggest you make an attempt at something that is not abridged. Try giving real lines to real scenes from an anime.
1. It's good practice for real mouthing.
2. The lines don't look half retarded on an application.
I don't mean to offend, but this script gave me a bad first impression. Using 1337-speak/smileys/DESUDESUDESU/general tomfoolery in a script is a bad idea. Remember that this is a serious dub and we're trying to make it as professional as we can.
I'd suggest re-submitting your application after you have attempted to actually DO what we'll be recruiting you to do (using a fansub for the rough translation is fine, just not for an actual script obviously). Script writing isn't exactly what I'm scouting for though. If you can do it alongside something else cool, but it's the only department we are not short-staffed in (thusly why I stated it additional script writers). All of the other positions listed are highly suggested because we have so few people to do those jobs.
Regardless, THANK YOU for applying. I had just about lost hope that anybody even really cared at all. |
|
|
| #23 Posted 3 months ago, in reply to post #22 by TitanAura | Reply | I understand. That script was meant to be written in a sillier manner, but I can write a more serious script. Just give me a few days and I'll cook up something.
As for another position, the only video editing software I own is Windows Movie Maker, so I doubt that'll help.
I own Audacity but I need to fool around with it a bit more before I can actually apply to help with audio editing/mixing, but when I feel I have the hang of it more I can submit something. |

Just making it in English for everyone to understand. Yep. |

|
| #28 Posted 3 months ago | Reply | | Yes. Project Yu-Gi-Oh! is taking extreme care to maintain artistic integrity in the series. We are even translating the ending credits instead of wiping and replacing them with ours...that's how nitpicky were are. We're trying to create something that shows what Yu-Gi-Oh could have been, had another company such as ADV or Funimation acquired Yu-Gi-Oh!'s license. It's probably the most ambitious fan project ever taken this far, and will take years to finish. However, it'll be more than worth it. |
|
|
| #29 Posted 3 months ago | Reply | | I'll be looking forward to it. It's been my favourite anime for years and probably the reason I want to get into the art business! Hats off to you and good luck for the best… |

| #30 Posted 3 months ago | Reply | Huzzah, huzzah. I finally completed and turned in my 'test'.
And, I kinda have to echo NotBrock there. YGO's why I've gotten into the translation and (kinda) fanfiction business.
Not that that last one's a viable career. |
