Just amazing...
Its really sad though that Heath had to pass away before he could see how amazed people are at his performance.
Definately beats any Tim Burton 1990's crap he pulled out of his sock. Just hope they do the Riddler next...>.>

Discuss.

Not gonna lie........it was quite good. Mainly the Joker and Two-Faces performance.

However one thing, too much MMA style fighting from Batman, and no Batarangs

Best movie of the year so far. Heath Ledger was amazing.

Honestly, at first I was highly skeptical as to how they would do the joker; in most of the cartoons, and even the last movie with him, he was, well, crappy. I've never been much of a fan of the Joker, but I have to say that this movie really turned me around. The dogs instead of hyenas was a very nice touch, and how real his insanity at times seemed was beautifully shot.

Similarly, I just about had a heart attack when they showed Twoface - chemical burns my ass, the way they combined CGI was superbly done.

I loved the two face part, because as soon as I saw the oil going down the one side of his face I yelled "Holy mother Two-Face!!"
Ended up over exciting myself and got really dazed for the rest of the movie...>.>

But yea, holy shit the CGI on it was fantastic. Now seeing Heath's performance in this movie makes me miss him even more.

Yeah, I would've loved to see this Joker in future Batman flicks, he's pretty much the definitive interpretation of him for me now.

By the way, can you edit the topic title. It's Dark Knight, not Night.

I saw it yesterday. I believe that The Dark Knight was quite awesome [ except for the ending when batman took the blame for all the murder\'s that Two-Face committed ]

That was a little lame. [ I liked it when Rachael died, muhahaha! No one is untouchable during war, not even the girl friend/love interest! ]

I would have prefered if Kate Holmes returned. Whoever played Whatsherface in this one's face looked like a pan-full of smashed assholes. Other than that it rocked. Also, to the topic creator, fuck you, Tim Burton's batman movies kicked ass.

I barely noticed they were two different people until somebody said it was a different actress. All I thought was, "Why does she have a bit more wrinkles?". I knew I should have watched Batman Begins the night before I saw The Dark Knight!

Who cares what actress it was [ she died anyways ].

I saw it on saturday, it was just pure awesomeness. I loved the pencil trick... but who didn't? :P

The other people at the theater I was at was dead though, I didn't hear anything except some laughter at the part where the little kids were like "Bang, bang!" and then you see an explosion in the near distance.

I saw it yesterday. As you can see from my new avatar, I loved it!

I can't say enough about the joker. I loved it! He was hilarious and I don't think I've ever seen better acting. R.I.P. Heath Ledger.

I wonder how Nolan is gonna do the sequel. With Ledger dead in real life and Two-Face dead in the movie, it's going to be REALLY hard to come close to this excellence without having at least a few shortcomings.

Eugh spoiler tags people, I would be bothered but I avoided reading anything apart from a couple of reviews until I'd seen it. I'll just copy paste what I wrote on another forum.
[ Let's get it out of the way because inevitably it will be a huge talking point, Ledger as The Joker. He was bloody amazing, really captured the feel of the character. The joke aspect was still there but it was very much dark humour, especially the scene where he kills a gang boss then basically tells two of his henchman to fight to the death with a broken pool cue. Also great that they didn't bother with a proper origin story and had him doing the little speeches that changed how he got the scars in each one, it just really helped get to the root of the character as a madman without reason.
I was skeptical about the claims that he deserves and oscar for this role before the film, but now think he really does deserve it, everything from the little mannerisms and his style of speech made him the best Joker ever. I'd honestly be quite happy if they never made another film with The Joker again because there is no way they're going to top that.
Also the fact that they didn't insert some big "This film is dedicated to Heath Ledger." message at the beginning or end speaks volumes about how confident they were with his performance and letting it speak for itself.

Now plot wise; the film was a bit long and it seemed like everything up until the scene with Batman and The Joker playing chicken in the street was just padding for the second half of the film.
Bringing in and subsequently killing off Two Face instead of saving him for the next film was a major shock. From the trailer it was obvious they were setting up Eckhart to play him but I expected that to be the next film. Right up until the very end I thought Rachel was going to get rescued.
Bit gutted about that because like Ledger nailed Joker, Eckhart totally nailed Harvey Dent/Two Face, kudos to the makeup department for the job on him as well because he was suitably grotesque.

I was a bit disappointed with Gary Oldman as Lt/Commisioner Gordon though, he was great in the last film but it didn't seem like his heart was in it this time until the very last moment.

It'll be interesting to see who the villain is in the next film, my money is on Catwoman since in terms of believability which they seem to be going for in this series and the odd reference to cats sprinkled in the film. Plus it would fit in and make for some good comparisons and moral dilemma having an on the run Batman hunting another criminal.

Finally, Maggie Gyllenhaal raaaaaaaawr.

Seriously Maggie Gyllenhaal is beautiful, dunno what's wrong with you people.

I saw it in IMAX and was blown away. I've never been a superhero fan, but that movie was amazing.
Somehow my favorite part was when the truck flipped over. Bwahaha.

Me too, I normally hate the superhero movies, but I've always liked Batman (from the 1990's animated series) and I liked Heath Ledger, so I was very pleased.

I wish I saw it in IMAX though. Lucky.

The magic pencil beats the truck flip, though.

Heath Ledger was amazing because he's all dead and shit.

Seriously, grow up.

Ta da, it's maaaagic.

And yes, Heath Ledger was amazing because he's all dead and shit. And happens to have done the Joker very well before he died.

One of the most overrated movies I've seen so far. I found it to be extremely dull, and way overlong. The entire movie was a mess, and characters seemed to transport themselves from one place to another between shots. The action sequences were nothing special, and the only really redeeming quality of the movie was the Joker.

You clearly haven't seen the film then becasue even if he was alive we would still be getting all the praise, next time see a performance before you diss it!!!
Seriously, grow up and go to the pictures.

Also orangevertigon while i respect it you opinion i think you couldn't be more wrong about the whole movie being a mess, i mean it can't be that bad if IMDB thinks its the best movie of all time so far, and your the first person i've heard give it a bad comment, fair enougth if you don't like it but i don't think your points are correct.

Loved the film and will be seeing it aleast 2 more times before the end of the week

After seeing this movie I was really dissapointed... because if they ever try to redo the Joker in a future Batman movie, its going to suck royally. From now on, Heath Ledger IS the Joker. I hope they dont add in Robin in the next movie....

I believe in Harvey Dent [ not dying at the end of the film. If Gordon had already faked his death to protect the people he loves, then he could fake Two-Face's death by hiding him away from the public after his fall from the building - in order to keep Dent's reputation and Gotham's belief in him still alive. Thus Gotham doesn't fall into more anarchy. ]

Magic Pencil and Nurse Joker FTW!

Well, I just got around to seeing it (first time I've been to the movies in two years), and I have to say, it's probably the most faithful Batman movie yet...it really does stick to the themes of the series, and explores them in much more detail than anything before.

And yes, the best part is definitely the Joker/Heath Ledger...not only the best Joker ever, but probably one of the best movie villains in a very, very long time. Also, I think that he's a really credible villain...that is, he comes off as being legitimately frightening. They tok the 100% serious route with him,and I think that was a good move.

Although there is one thing that bugs me...is it just me, or does Gotham look significantly different from the way it looked in Batman Begins...that's the one thing that kept bugging me. I mean, from just the establishing shots from the two films you wouldn;'t guess they were supposed to be the same city...and what happened to the monorail? Gotham has a big monorail, which they included in Batman Begins...it's like it disappeared.

And yes, it's long, but I think a Batman movie has to be long...that is, you're taking a story that's been in the making for literally 70 years, and trying to transpose it onto the big screen, you

And things like character development are a very important (if not the most important) part of a Batman movie, and you really can't adequately develop characters like that in an hour and 45 minutes. And altogether, superhero stories are modern day epics. If you're going to have a battle of the titans (and yes, Batman and the Joker are titans), for it to be done right it's going to be big, it's going to be grand, and it's going to be long. It's not the sort of thing you can escape.
