I'm pretty much at a loss for words, here.

Originally released in late 2001 for the PS2 and [late] Dreamcast, Rez, described by many as one of the most eccentric, unique games of all time (and quite obviously a serious favorite of mine), is being resurrected as a downloadable title for Microsoft's Xbox Live Arcade service. I could fill the rest of this newspost ranting on and on about how unbelievable the game is, but I'll let you guys read the above articles and find out for yourself exactly what is so special about Rez, not as a game, but as an experience.

And a side note to those who aren't aware of its existence, and thus missed the joke in the comic above; for the game's PS2 release, SEGA partnered with ASCII and released a USB "vibration device" created and programmed specifically to work with Rez, thumping in beat to the music and onscreen action. If that alone doesn't convince you of SEGA's batshit insane nature at the time, it even came in a protective water-proof casing; and honestly, if at that point you still are unaware of its true purpose, you either aren't thinking hard enough or are truly a lost soul and need to order a copy of the game/get a girlfriend to play it with. In a word? It is rocking. It rocks.

Oh. And looks like Ikaruga is back too, apparently? Enjoy your broken thumbs and crushed dreams, for when you realize you haven't gotten any better at the game in the past four years and still find yourself unable to pass level three on easy mode, you will begin to wonder at that point in time what your purpose in the universe truly is. And at that moment, friends, you will become a man. Unless, of course, you're a woman?

I really don't know what happens if you're a woman. Sorry.

- Mike out.
Innumerable stars
Won't tell us where to go
It's a long, long run
To the palace in the sun
With hopes and dreams
Our ship will cross the sea
To the whole new world
Shining like a pearl,
The whole new world
-Posted on Sep 14, 2007

^(THIS IS A TEST)^ Mon, 17 Sep 2007 14:25:07 -0500 http://www.yugiohtheabridgedseries.com/user/57/blog/c5/
